Broad Count Definitions Overview

Broad counts are similar to cycle counts, which do not use existing inventory definitions but rather use Broad Count Definitions. These broad count definitions support filters based on a single department or single category only. You can create and assign broad count definitions as per the selected locations.

Reaching "Broad Count Definitions"

To reach "Broad Count Definitions," follow the below steps:
  1. Step 1: Log into Control Center
  2. Step 2: Choose Point of Sale
  3. Step 3: Choose Inventory

1. Adding/Creating a New Broad Count Definition

Follow the steps mentioned below to add a New Broad Count Definition:
  1. Click the “Add New” button found in Figure 2 to add a new broad count definition. 
  2. The form highlighted in Figure 3 will appear on your screen.

Fields:
  1. Account Name: Select your company name from this drop-down list, where you will see more than one account name if you have a software license for more than one company.
  2. Name: Give a unique name to the broad count definition that matches the nature of the items that are to be selected in this.
  3. Type: This is a filter that lets you pick the broad count type, i.e., category, and department of the items that you are performing a broad count on. See Figure 3.1.

  1. Category: If you select category broad count type, then it will ask you to pick a specific category that you wish to make a broad count definition.

  1. Department: If you select department broad count type, then it will ask you to pick a specific department that you wish to make a broad count definition.

  1. # of Child Units: This field lets you set the value of the items in the chosen category or department that is to be used for broad count definition. It is set to zero if the item is a standalone item with no child.
  2. Count Mandatory: If this toggle is set to YES, then it becomes mandatory to count this definition in the Count Schedule field.
  3. Show System Count to Employees: If this toggle is set to YES, it will show the system count to the employee performing the broad count.
  4. Require Notes On Create: If this toggle is set to YES, it requires the note to be mentioned while creating the broad count.
  5. Require Notes On Edit: If this toggle is set to YES, it requires the note to be mentioned while editing the broad count.
  6. Count Schedule: This is a field that lets you set the count schedule frequency as daily (including weekends) or just working weekdays.
  1. Manage Assignment: This option lets you assign the locations for this broad count definition. You can either select All locations or only the selected locations.

         2. The Manage Locations screen will appear as shown in Figure 3.5 below.

  1. Select the Location(s) you need to assign.
  2. Click the highlighted Next icon. The selected locations will be shown in the Selected List section. 
  3. Click on "Apply" to apply the selection. 
  4. Control Center will assign the selected Location(s) to the vendor part and show them in the Manage Assignment section as shown in Figure 3.6.

  5. Use the Delete button to delete any assigned location if needed. 

2. Editing the Broad Count Definition 

Follow the steps mentioned below to edit the Broad Count Definition:
  1. Click the Edit button highlighted in Figure 2 above to edit a Broad Count Definition.
  2. The form highlighted in Figure 4 will appear on your screen.

  1. Make the required changes and click on "Save," "Save & New," or "Save & Close" to save the changes made to the Edit Broad Count Definition form.

3. Deleting the Broad Count Definitions

Follow the steps mentioned below to delete a Broad Count Definition:
  1. Click the “Delete” button highlighted in Figure 2 above to delete a Broad Count Definition.
  2. A warning dialog box will appear with two related options.

  1. Click “Yes, Delete” to continue the process of deleting the Broad Count Definition.
  2. Click “Cancel” to close the pop-up and skip the deletion process.
