1. Overview
When customers sign up for the Loyal-n-Save program in-store, they’ll be asked if they’d like a loyalty card. If they agree, they’ll receive a physical loyalty card.
Here’s a detailed explanation of how it works:
1.1 Distribution and Activation:
- Sign-Up Process: When a customer enrolls in the Loyal-n-Save program at a physical store location, they are often given a physical loyalty card as part of the sign-up process. This card is usually a small, wallet-sized plastic card that is linked to the customer's account.
- Activation: The card is activated during the sign-up process, either by the cashier or through the store's point-of-sale (POS) system. Once activated, the card is ready to use for earning and redeeming rewards.
1.2 Functionality:
- Earning Reward Tokens: Each time the customer makes a purchase, they can present their physical loyalty card at the checkout. The cashier scans the card, which links the transaction to the customer’s loyalty account. Reward tokens are then earned based on the program’s reward structure, which could include earning tokens per dollar spent, for specific products, or during promotions.
- Redeeming Rewards: The loyalty card also facilitates the redemption of rewards. When a customer has accumulated enough tokens or meets specific reward criteria, they can use their card to redeem discounts, special offers, or other benefits directly at the store.
1.3 Customer Convenience:
- Easy Access: The physical loyalty card provides a tangible way for customers to participate in the loyalty program. It’s convenient to carry and easy to present at checkout. This functionality is always helpful for the customer who purchases every now and then.
- In-Store Promotions: The card can also be used to access in-store promotions or exclusive offers available only to loyalty members. This encourages repeat visits and enhances customer engagement.
- Visual Appeal: The physical card often carries the store’s branding, including logos and colors, which reinforces brand identity every time the customer uses the card.
- Customer Retention: By physically carrying the card, customers are reminded of their connection to the store, which can increase loyalty and encourage frequent shopping.
The physical loyalty card serves as both a functional tool for managing rewards and a constant brand reminder for customers. It’s a key component of the in-store loyalty experience, making it easy for customers to engage with the program and for the store to track and reward their shopping behavior.
