Credit Card Settings Overview
POS -> POS Device Global Settings -> "Credit Card Settings"
When customers reach the cashier to check out their item purchase, they can use different tenders such as cash, debit cards, credit cards, checks, etc. Nowadays, payment through a credit card is one of the most preferred methods. FTx Cloud POS provides the settings for credit card authorization, applicable fees, and many other settings relevant to your credit card system.

2. Credit Card Settings Glossary
Manage the credit card settings (flags), such as the second receipt after a credit card transaction, credit card authorization, fee, tip, and other settings:
1. Do Not Print Header Information on Second Credit Card Receipt: Enable this setting if you don't want to print the "header information" on the second receipt printed, i.e., store name, store address/contact details, etc., that are added under "Receipt Settings."
2. Do Not Print Item Details on Second Credit Card Receipt: Enable this setting if you don't want to print the "item details" on the second receipt printed.
3. Do Not Print Footer Information on Second Credit Card Receipt: Enable this setting if you don't want to print the "footer information" on the second receipt printed, i.e., the "Thank you" message, return policy instructions, etc. that are added under "Receipt Settings."
Figure 2.1
4. Do Not Print Age Verify On Second Credit Card Receipt: Enable this setting if you don't want to print the age verification details on the second receipt printed.
5. Do Not Print Barcode On Second Credit Card Receipt: Enable this setting if you don't want to print the barcode on the second receipt printed. The barcode is printed for the purpose of returning an item, but retailers/stores don’t need it.
6. Do Not Print Logo On Second Credit Card Receipt: Enable this setting if you don't want to print the store's logo that is added in "Receipt Settings" on the second receipt.
Note: The above settings [1 to 6] are not necessary for the store receipt/copy to retailers. Generally, the second receipt belongs to the store/retailer for keeping records for reconciliation and accounting purposes. So, it is possible that all the information might not be required on the store’s receipt. So, by avoiding the unnecessary details on the second receipt, the store owner could save receipt paper.7. Do Not Print Signature Line On First Credit Card Receipt: Enable this setting if you don't want to print a signature line on the first receipt that is for the customer. Signatures do not offer protection to the merchant any longer.
-> About Customer's Signature: If required by the store, the customer needs to make a signature for the payment as proof. The virtual PIN pads/credit card readers have a virtual signature alliance. The customer needs to sign on the PIN pad rather than on physical paper. So, by avoiding the signature on physical paper, the store owner could save the receipt paper.8. Do Not Automatically Prompt For Card Swipe: Enable this setting to disallow and avoid prompting card swipes automatically. The cashier needs to hit the button on the POS to proceed further.
-> Generally, this option would be disabled (off) to avoid pressing the button manually for the card swipe.
9. Do Not Show Manual Entry Button On Credit Card Auth: Enable this setting if you don't want to allow a cashier to manually enter credit card details, i.e., credit card number, expiration date, CVV, and the manual entry of the credit card information will be passed.

-> Most retailers keep this option enabled to avoid manual credit card entry and prevent item loss due to unauthorized/stolen credit card access. This is a kind of security layer where the credit card can be verified and confirmed that it is legit (indeed), not a stolen one.
10. Require Minimum Sale Amount: Enable this setting if you want to set the minimum sale amount when the customers want to make payment using a credit card. By enabling this setting, the below field will be visible on the screen:
- Minimum Sale Amount: Enter the minimum amount ($ value) to allow customers to use their credit card for the payment, i.e., $5. The POS system will not allow the credit card transaction to go through if the subtotal is below $5.
-> Generally, the store owners keep this setting enabled with a minimum sale amount to avoid the fees for the lower transactions. Figure 2.2
11. Require Manager Override For Manual Entry Amount Greater Than: Enable this setting if you want the manager to override the manual entry of the credit card over a specific dollar amount for sales. The cashier needs to ask the manager for access to complete the payment in the case of a manually entered credit card for a transaction of a specific dollar amount. By enabling this setting, the below field will be visible on the screen:
- Manual Entry Amount: Enter the maximum transaction amount that the cashier is allowed for the credit card transaction by entering the details manually. If the limit is exceeded, the manager is required to override to complete the payment.
Note: When Do Not Show Manual Entry Button on Credit Card Auth is disabled, this option will be used for payment actions.12. No signature needed on sales: Enable this setting to skip the customer’s signature for a certain sales amount. Signatures do not offer any protection to the merchant any longer, and as such, most locations do not bother with signatures at this time.
- No Signature Sales Amount: Enter the maximum sales amount allowed before a customer's signature is required, i.e., $150. A customer's signature is required if the sale value is more than $150.
13. Full Disable Manual Entry Button: Enable this setting to disable the option to enter the credit card details manually. If this setting is enabled, the cashiers will not have the option to enter the credit card details, even if the card swiping/tapping fails many times.
14. Disallow Partial Authorizations: Enable this setting if you don't want to allow partial payments from credit cards and the remaining amount using other tenders.
- If this setting is disabled, the cashier can divide the sales amounts in case the credit card limit is crossed at the time of the transaction.
15. Enable Cash Discounting/Dual Pricing: This setting allows you to define different prices for the "Cash" and "Credit Card" payment methods for the selected or all departments.
- You can offer discounted price for the "Cash" payment for the selected department. You can choose that which tender to be considered as "Cash." You can consider gift cards or other tenders as "Cash." Point 20 Tenders Considered as Cash will show how to specify various payment methods as "Cash."
If you enable Enable Cash Discounting/Dual Pricing setting, the "Cash Discount%," "Default Method of Payment," "Departments Using Cash Discount Pricings," and "Tenders Considered as Cash" settings will appear. The details explained below Figure 2.3.
Figure 2.3
16. Allow Only Cash Value for Non-receipt Returns: This setting allows you to specify the return tender for the non-receipt returns. If you enable this setting, the setting the system will
17. Cash Discount %: Enter the % of discount you want to offer for the cash transactions.
- The discount will be calculated based on the payment mode and specified departments. Point 18 Default Method of Payment and 19 Departments Using Cash Discount Pricing show how the system will let you choose the payment mode and departments.

When processing the payment for the item belonging to the department you have specified:
- If the “Method of Payment” is “Cash,” and the “Cash Discount” value is set to 3% the system will show the 3% discount for the cash transactions in the receipt.
- If the “Method of Payment” is “Not
Cash” and the value is set to 3% the system will not show any discount on the receipt.
18. Default Method of Payment: This setting is for defining the default payment mode of the POS. In case, there's no default mode specified, the system will prompt the cashier once they start a new sale.
Figure 2.4
The three options are described as below:
- Not Set : If you choose this option, the POS will prompt the cashier to select the method of payment after each transaction. By default, this setting is selected.
- Cash : This value sets the mode of payment as Cash Only and will not allow the cashier to use Debit Cards and Credit Cards as the tenders for the payment.
- Non-Cash: This value sets the mode of payment as Not Cash and will not allow the Cashier to use Cash as the tender for the Payment.
19. Departments Using Cash Discount Pricing: This field is empty by default. If it is empty, cash discounting works on ALL products in the system. If the field is filled out, the system will use this as an Allow List i.e., every product which matches, will be adding a % to the final line total of the product.
20. Tenders Considered as Cash: This is a drop-down list that determines which other tenders can also be also considered as cash. For example, a user may choose Cash and Checks as the two options they want to mark as Cash tender.
- The system will consider all methods specified here as "Cash" and treat them with the calculation determined for cash.
Figure 2.5
21. Enable Pre-Authorization:
Enable this setting to set the pre-authorization amount.
- Pre-Auth Amount: Set a dollar amount that is pre-authorized during a pre-authorization. See Figure 2.6.
Note: Doing this will put a hold on the funds selected as soon as the card is swiped. This may cause issues with some customers who don't have the pre-auth amount available on their card, causing an overdraft.
22. Add Tip When Auto Closing: Enable this setting to add a tip when closing the sale.
1. Tip Type: Select the tip type as a Flat ($) or Percentage (%) for the tip.
2. Tip Amount: Enter the applicable tip, whether a fixed amount ($) or a percentage (%) value, as per the selection of the type.
Figure 2.6
23. Tip Enabled: This ties tip integration to CC PIN pads. When enabled, the PIN pad will show tip suggestions directly on the PIN pad.
1. Tip Department: Select the department to tie the tip dollar amounts.
2. Tip Suggestion 1 to 5: Prompt to enter a tip percentage (%) suggestion, which will be provided to the POS.
Note: Fees and tips are directly tied to integrated cards. So, if you have non-integrated credit card processing (a standalone PIN pad), you can manage the fees and tips.24. Prompt to Use Debit: Enable this setting if you want the system to prompt the cashier to use debit. The store saves money when debit is used over credit, so it is always better when it is available to run as debit.
1. <$ Amount to Prompt: Enter the amount for the system to prompt in this field.
2. Cashier Message: Enter the prompt message for the cashier to view.
25. Allow Phone Number Lookup: Enable this setting if you want to add the customer's number before proceeding with the transaction. The cashier needs to enter the customer’s phone number on the PIN pad.
26. Disable Confirm Amount: Enable this setting if you don't want to prompt the confirmation with the sub-total to proceed with the transaction. So, when the cashier hits the "Credit Card" button from the POS, it will directly ask to swipe the credit card to complete the sales transaction.
- Generally, retailers disable this setting to prompt payment confirmation before proceeding with the sales transaction.
27. Allow Debit cashback: Enable this setting if you allow the cashback functionality when the customer uses a debit card tender. Debit cashback depends on whether the merchant services account allows it. You will also need to ensure that you change the tender to allow cash back. See the article on Tenders for more information.
28. Open Cash Drawer: Enable this setting if you want to enable opening the cash drawer automatically when the cashier hits the "Credit Card" button from the POS.
- Generally, there's no need to open the cash drawer if the credit card terminal is being used, but if this option is enabled, the cash drawer will be opened at transaction time.
29. Full Disable Manual Entry Button Manage Override: Enable this setting if you want to override full disable manual entry and allow only the manager's authority to enter credit card details manually.
30. Add Credit Card Fee After Tax: If this setting is enabled, the credit card fee will be applied after the tax is calculated on the sales.
After managing and configuring the settings, click the "Save & Close" button or "Save" button to save the credit card settings.
The store owner can manage the above settings whenever needed.
Note: Credit Card Settings will be applied globally, which means they will be applied to every store (location) for the specific account for which you have logged in. However, you can also configure these settings at the store level for the individual stores (locations). For that, reach the "Locations" module. Edit the location (store) and click "Manage POS Settings" to configure the different POS Settings rather than applying the POS Global Settings. So, you can override POS Device Settings for any store as per retail business requirements.
