Inventory Projection Report Overview

Inventory Projection, also referred to as inventory forecasting or demand planning, involves analyzing past inventory data and trends to make informed decisions for future inventory management. This report type presents historical inventory data to help you accurately project future needs based on previous patterns and performance.

You can customize the report using various filters and sorting options to match your specific requirements. The system will display relevant records based on the selected filters, including details such as Product Name, UPC, Quantity on Hand (QOH), Average Sales Per Day, and Total Quantity Sold to Date.

1. Reaching the "Inventory Projection Report"  

To reach the "Inventory Projection Report," follow the below steps:
  1. Step 1: Log into Control Center
  2. Step 2: Choose Point of Sale
  3. Step 3: Choose Reports
  4. Step 4: Choose Inventory Reports
  5. Step 5: Choose Inventory Projection  
See Figure 1.1. You will see many types of inventory reports that will be useful to your retail business. By clicking the "Choose Report" drop-down selection, you will see the different types of inventory reports.

2. Understanding the "Inventory Projection Report"

By clicking "Inventory Projection Report," you will be redirected to the "Inventory Projection Report," where you can see relevant filtering and sorting options.

3. Generating the "Inventory Projection Report"

To generate the "Inventory Projection Report," follow the steps below. (See Figure 2.1 above).
  1. From the Inventory Projection Report page, you will see the "Choose Report" drop-down selection.
  2. By clicking the drop-down selection, you will see different types of inventory reports in alphabetical order.
  3. Search for "Inventory Report" from the list and click on it.
The following data gets fetched in tabular format when you click on the "Generate Report" button in the top right corner; the "Inventory Projection Report" will be displayed as highlighted in Figure 3.1.

Fields Information:
  1. Item Name: This column displays the list of item names with their present QOH and Quantity Sold so that the inventory can be projected for the future.
  2. UPC: It is a Universal Product Code (UPC) that helps in keeping track of items at the store. 
  3. Quantity on Hand: This column shows the current Quantity on Hand (QOH) of the item mentioned in the item's column.
  4. Quantity Sold: This record column holds the numeric value for the item's Quantity Sold.
  5. Average Sales Per Day: This report column gives the average sales of the listed adjacent items in the item's name column.
  6. # of Days Left: This column will display the number of days for which the listed items in the inventory will survive.

4. Filter Options:

Let's understand the custom filter options to generate the Inventory Projection Report by setting up specific criteria.
This field has an attached drop-down menu consisting of two options: 
  1. Show All: This option will display the data in the reports for all created discounts in the system. 
  1. Custom Filter: This option enables you to generate the report by selecting specific parameters such as UPCDepartmentCategoryManufacturerVendor, and Department Tag. Once you choose the "Custom Filter" option, the system will enable the "Manage" button to set up the filters.

  1. Click on the "Manage" button to apply filters to get the customized results.
  2. The Manage Filters screen will appear, as Figure 4.2 shows.

Manage Filter Page Information:
  1. Manage Filters Drop-Down: Select the saved custom filters from the Manage Filters drop-down (if any) and click "Apply" to apply the saved custom filter. The system will redirect you to the Inventory Projection Report home screen. Click "Generate Report" to generate the report for the selected filter. Clicking the "Manage Filters" button will also open the list of saved custom filters. 
  2. Parameter Tabs: You will see six tabs: UPC, Department, Category, Manufacturer, Vendor, and Department Tag. Select the required tab, i.e., UPC, to create or apply a custom filter specific to the selected UPCs.
  3. Search: Use this Search box for a specific result.
  4. All Items: Use this drop-down to filter the Manage Filters screen data based on four parameters: All Items, Child Only, Parent Only, and Standalone Only.
  5. Active Only: Use this drop-down to filter the Manage Filters screen data based on three parameters: Active Only, Inactive Only, and All Records.
  6. All Filters Drop-Down: Use the "Match All Filters" filter to decide whether or not the Manage Filters screen data matches all applied filters.
  7. Results: Here, you see the relevant list of data for the selected tab. For example, if you have chosen the "UPC" tab, it will show the list of all UPCs. You can search for a specific UPC in the Search bar.
  8. Checkboxes: Select the required products by checking the appropriate checkboxes.
  9. Arrow: Click the green Arrow button to move the selected records to the Selected List area.

1. When generating the report, you can decide whether to include or exclude the selected parameters.
  1. Include: If you select "Include," the system will include all the specified parameters to generate the report.
  2. Exclude: If you select "Exclude," the system will exclude all the specified parameters to generate the report.
2. Click the "Clear Selection" button to remove the whole selection. To remove any record from the list, click the Remove (x) icon. 
3. Apply or save the custom filter:
  1. Apply: Click the "Apply" button for the selected parameters. The system will navigate you to the Inventory Projection Report home screen. Click "Generate Report." The system will generate reports based on your selection. 
    Save Filters: Click the "Save Filters" button to save the custom filter for future use. 4.1.1 Save and Manage Custom Filters explains the details.
  2. Close: Use this button to exit the Manage Filters screen.

4.1 Save Filters

You can also save the configured custom filters for future use. By clicking the "Save Filters" button, a pop-up will appear to allow you to enter the name of the custom filter.

  1. Enter the name of the filter and click on "OK" to save it for future use.

  1. Once saved, click on "OK.
  2. The saved filter will be displayed under the "Manage Filters" button as highlighted in Figure 4.1.3.

  1. Click on "Select Filter"; it will navigate you back to the Manage Filters form. Click on "Apply" to apply the filter.
  2. The Inventory Projection Report with the selected filter will be displayed as highlighted in Figure 4.1.4.

4.2. Date Range

  1. You can filter your sales data in the report between the dates and select a specific time from the Start Date and End Date drop-down calendars.
  1. By clicking the Edit box, you will get the drop-down calendar to select the specific date range. You can also manually enter the date in mm/dd/yyyy format.
  1. You can also generate a report with a specific time duration (until morning/evening), and you can select the particular time (hour and minutes) from the date selection. See Figure 4.2.1 and Figure 4.2.2.
  1. Start Date: Click to enter the start date of the selected date range.

4.2.1 Presets

Presets label is provided to select the specific duration/interval to generate the Inventory Projection Report according to the selected time period.

4.3. Selected Stores/No Filter Selected

You can generate the Inventory Project Report for selected store locations with "Selected Store.

  1. Click on "No Filter Selected" to select the location of the store to get the location-specific backorders in the report.

NotesFollow the same steps used on the Manage Filters screen to add and apply location filters, then generate the custom report.

5. Checkbox Filters

Use the available filters to narrow down your data and generate more precise report results. Filtering ensures you see only the most relevant information based on your selected criteria.

  1. Show Only Days Greater Than: This is a filter that will allow you to enter the number of days to display the report showing the records that have "# of Days Left" greater than the entered number, i.e., 30.

  1. Rollup Links: This filter will combine the related parent and child items to give you the total quantity on hand value of the product in decimal format.

InfoThe rest of the location and location group filters and other filter categories (UPC, Vendor, Department, Category, Manufacturer) will also narrow your results in the filter-specific report.

6. Scheduling a Report

FTx Cloud POS supports report automation. You can configure a report and schedule it. The system will send the scheduled report to the indicated email IDs at the defined frequencies (daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.).

7. Printing/Exporting a Report 

You can print or export any report according to your requirements. When you use the Print function, the system creates and opens the report's PDF file in a new tab. You can download the soft copy or print the paper copy according to your requirements.

8. Manage Favorites 

FTx Cloud POS allows quick access to the reports you need to view frequently through "Favorite Reports." You can save a report as a favorite and manage all your favorite reports from any of the report screens using the "Manage Favorites" button.
