Understanding "Lottery Reconciliation Settings" Layout

Please see the image below labeled Figure 2 for a description of the buttons and fields that appear on the screen.

Fields:
  1. Lottery Sales Dept: A lottery ticket is considered a regular product; hence, a department is dedicated to a lottery. Once that is done, the game number is assigned to the ticket. For this setting, select the department from the drop- down list associated with lottery sales (the department that is created to manage the physical lottery items and their sales at the store). See Figure 3.

                                       Figure 3
  1. Lotto Sales Dept: Lotto represents the non-physical lottery items. Use the department name from the drop-down list for non-physical lottery items.
  2. Get Payouts From: For this setting, you get two options to select from, as highlighted in Figure 4 below.
  1. Payout Account: If you select this option, you don't have to assign payout account numbers.
  1. Department: With this option, if there's a payout where the customer wins some money, the payout can be done along with purchasing in the same transaction. It saves paper, time, and effort.
  1. Lotto/Online Payout Department: Select the lotto payout department from the drop-down list.
  2. Lottery Scratch Payout Department: Pick the department from the drop-down list.
Toggles:
  1. Blind Shift Recons: If this is set to YES, then cashiers are not supposed to see what they have, i.e., how many tickets are sold or what ticket number is sold. If set to NO, then they can see which ticket has been sold in what quantity during reconciliation. Setting it to YES or NO has its own pros and cons, but if it's set to NO, it will let you know if there's any variance.
  1. Shift Deposits Editable: If it is set to true, then you are allowed to edit the shift deposits. If set to NO, the shift deposits are not editable.
  1. Shift Enable Lottery: If it is set to YES, then you are expected to do the lottery recon, and if it is set to NO (it is set to NO in case your store doesn't do the lottery), then you are not allowed/expected to do the lottery reconciliation.
  1. Lottery Use Multiple Zs: By default, it is set to NO, which means if there are multiple registers in a store, then lottery sales can go through only one of those registers for a shift at a store, so you cannot ring up lottery tickets on multiple registers. For all those tickets that are going through one particular register, when the cashier Z's out, we know exactly where that variance is coming from. If it is set to YES, then the lottery ticket can be rung up on multiple registers.
  1. Use Lottery Safe: If you are using the safe to store extra lottery game tickets, then set this toggle to YES. If this is not the case, then set this toggle to NO.
  1. Lottery Lock Starting Ticket #: Each lottery book that you get from the state is inactive. Lottery activations are done to keep track of activations because they can be sold regardless. This is a lottery security setting that prevents the cashier from stealing the ticket. It is beneficial if set to YES.
  1. Lottery Base is Zero: If the "Lottery Base is 0" toggle is set to YES, then the base for the lottery tickets will start from 0. For example, for a total of 50 tickets, if the sorting is set to ascending order, it will start from 0, 1, 2, 3, 4...49. For descending order, it will go as 49, 48, 47, 46...0.
Lottery Notifications:
  1. Choose specific users to receive lottery email notifications: Choose specific users to receive email notifications for the reconciliation: You can choose the email of the admin/admin group from the drop-down list for the reconciliation notifications.

                                               Figure 4
  1. Add custom emails to lottery notifications (1 per line): In case the emails are not there in the drop-down list, then you can add the custom email ID of the recipient to receive the reconciliation notifications. Only one email can be added to a line.
