Notification Settings Overview

"Notification Settings" lets you configure the notification rules related to the POS device's inactivity. You can decide who receives a notification when there has been no activity on the POS devices at your stores for a predefined time.

Note: You can also reach "Notification Settings" by following the path: Control Panel >> Settings >> POS >> POS Device Global Settings >> Notification Settings.  

2. Understanding "Notification Settings" Functioning

Please refer to Figure 2.1 and the descriptions of the buttons and fields below to understand the details.

  1. 1: Notify if POS Idle for X minutes: Use this button to specify the POS device's idle time for which you want to configure a notification.
    1. If you enable this button, the Minutes field will appear, as Figure 2.2 shows. If you enter five in the Minutes field, the system will notify the specified email addresses when any POS device is idle for five minutes or more at your locations.

  1. 2: Notify if No Transactions Occur in X minutes: Use this button to specify the no transaction time. 
    1. If you enable this button, the Minutes field will appear, as Figure 2.3 shows. If you enter five in the Minutes field, the system will notify the specified email addresses when no transaction occurs for five minutes or more at any POS device at any of your locations.

  1. 3: Choose specific users to receive email notifications for POS device global settings: Use this section to specify the users to whom you want the system to send a notification email. 
    1. When you click in this field, the system will show the list of all users registered with your FTx Cloud POS user account, as Figure 2.4 shows. Select the required user(s) from the list.

  1. 4: Add Custom emails to receive POS device global settings notifications (1 per line): This field is helpful when you want the system to send a notification email to email addresses that are not registered with your FTx Cloud POS user account. You need to enter one email address per line, as Figure 2.5 shows.

3. Configuring a Notification Rule 

Please follow the steps below to configure a notification rule:
  1. Navigate to "Notification Settings." 
  2. Make the required selections and enter the appropriate information, as explained in 2. Understanding "Notification Settings" Functioning.
  3. Click the Save or Save & Close button available in the Point Of Sale Settings section to save the configuration. The buttons are highlighted in Figure 3.1.

  1. Cancel: This button lets you cancel the changes made. 
  2. Save & Close: If you click the "Save & Close" button, the system will save the changes and navigate you to the Settings screen.  
  3. Save: This button lets you save the changes you have made at any point.
Figure 3.2 below shows an email that provides a notification when the POS device is idle for the specified time.

Fields:
  1. Location: This field indicates the POS device's location.
  2. POS Device: This field indicates the device name.  
  3. Register: This field indicates the device's register number. 
  4. Employee: This field shows the name of the employee who is logged in to the POS device when it is idle or has no transaction. 
  5. Last Activity Timestamp: This field shows when there was the last activity on the device. 
Figure 3.3 below shows an email that provides a notification when there is no transaction at the POS device for the specified time.

The notification email about the no transaction will have the same fields as the email about the idle POS device.

3.1 Editing the Notification Rule

Please follow the steps below to edit a notification rule:
  1. Navigate to "Notification Settings."
  2. Make the necessary changes and click the "Save" or "Save & Close" button highlighted in Figure 3.4.

3.2 Deleting a Notification Rule

Please follow the steps below to delete a notification rule:
  1. Navigate to "Notification Settings."
  2. Set Notify if POS Idle for X minutes to No and Notify if No Transactions Occur in X minutes to No
  3. Remove all specified email IDs and click the "Save" or "Save & Close" button highlighted in Figure 3.4.
