Order Tipping [Tip Setup & Report]

Allow your customers to add a tip for the store's employee or the delivery person at the time of checkout. The store admin can enable and set up the preset value in % of the tip from the Business Settings (Global Settings) of the online store. If the tip option is enabled, the customer is asked to tip at the time of placing the order.

Fulfillment users who work on specific orders, if the tip is included in that order, will receive the tip amount separately. Fulfillment users can view their tip earnings from orders by accessing their profile details.
In this KB article, we explained the following topics one by one:
- How the store admin can enable the tip
- How the customers can add a tip for the order
- How fulfillment users can get the tip for getting the order ready and check their tip earnings
- How the store admin can check the employee tip reports for the order

1. Reaching the Tip Option

To reach the tip option, follow the below steps:
  1. Step 1: Log into Store Admin

Figure 1.1
  1. Step 2: Click Settings
  2. Step 3: Click Global

Figure 1.2
  1. Step 4: Click Store Pickup/Delivery
You can enable the tip option for 'Store Pickup' and 'Delivery' fulfillment types, excluding "Standard Shipping" as orders are shipped by a third party.

Similarly, for 'Delivery' fulfillment.

Figure 1.4
The tip option applies to both "Our Team" and "DoorDash" delivery types for delivery. If the delivery is through DoorDash, the Dasher will receive the tip.

2. Enable Tip (Store Admin)

When the "Enable Tip Option on Checkout" checkbox is selected, you can preset four different percentage (%) values. These values provide customers with options to add a tip to their order. While it's not necessary to enter all percentage values, at least one tip value must be entered when the tip option is enabled.

Figure 2.1

These settings apply to delivery fulfillment as well.

Figure 2.2
Tip Distribution (Delivery Fulfillment)
  1. If "Our Team" is selected in the "Who will deliver the orders?" drop-down, the store's personnel will deliver the order to the customer's address. Consequently, the tip amount belongs to the store's personnel.
  2. If "DoorDash" is selected in the "Who will deliver the orders?" drop-down, the DoorDash delivery person, known as a Dasher, will deliver the order to the customer's address. In this case, the tip amount belongs to the Dasher.

3. Placing an Order

When customers reach the 'Checkout' page to place their order, they can add a tip.

Figure 3.1
This can be done manually by clicking the "Add Tip" label located under "Order Summary."

Figure 3.2
Clicking the "Add Tip" label triggers a pop-up where customers can select from preset tip values as configured by the store admin. However, they also have the option to add a custom tip amount.
Note: The tip percentage is always calculated based on the "Sub Total" of the order i.e., Sub Total + Sub Total * Tip Value % = $ Total (including a tip).
After selecting or entering a tip value, customers need to click the "Add Tip" button to confirm. The tip amount will then be calculated and added to the order details.

                                                                                                                    Figure 3.3
Customers have the flexibility to edit or remove the tip amount before proceeding.

If a customer places an order without adding a tip or forgets to do so, the system prompts them to add a tip once. They are presented with two options:
No, Place Order: Customers can proceed with placing the order without adding a tip by clicking this button.

                                                                                   Figure 3.4
Yes, Add Tip: Clicking this button opens the tip pop-up again, allowing customers to add a tip.

Customers can select a preset tip percentage or enter a custom dollar amount for the tip.

4. Tip Details in Order (Fulfillment)

When a fulfillment user prepares an order for the customer, the tip amount is calculated if a tip was added during checkout. This tip amount can be viewed in the order details under the order summary section.

Figure 4.1
If the order status is "In Progress," the tip is allocated to the fulfillment user who picked the order to prepare it for the customer.

Filter options are available to refine the data:
- Select Store: Filter data by selecting multiple stores if necessary.
Figure 5.3
- Fulfillment Types: Filter data by selecting "Fulfillment Types" [Store Pickup & Delivery] from the dropdown list.

Figure 5.4
- Date Range: Filter data by selecting a "preset" or "custom date range" from the calendar.
