Peripherals Overview

Peripheral settings in a point-of-sale (POS) system enable users to configure and manage the external hardware devices connected to the POS terminal. These peripherals typically include receipt printers, barcode scanners, cash drawers, customer displays, and weighing scales.

2. Understanding the Peripheral Settings Function

The Peripheral settings screen includes settings related to: 
  1. Receipt 
  2. Scanner 
  3. Scale
  4. Camera 
  5. FTxIdentity
  6. Display
  7. Kitchen
  8. Credit Card
  9. PMB
  10. Biometric
  11. Other
  12. Smart Till

2.1 Receipt Settings

The Receipt Settings allow you to specify receipt printing-related settings.

  1. Printer Type: Select the required printer type from the drop-down menu. The drop-down options will show all configured printers in the store. 
    1. Depending on the printer you select, the system may prompt you to provide additional information. 
  2. Enable DVR Feed: Tick this checkbox to enable the DVR feeds. 
  1. A DVR feed in a POS system refers to the video footage captured by surveillance cameras, which is recorded and managed by a Digital Video Recorder (DVR). When integrated with the POS system, this video footage serves as a valuable tool for monitoring transactions, employee behavior, and security incidents.
  2. When you tick this checkbox, the Com port field will appear. Enter the port information in it.

  1. IP Address Port: This field is used for entering the printer port. However, many of our clients don't use it. 
  2. Test Printer: Use this button to test the printer connection. 
  3. Test Drawer: Use this button to test the drawer connection. 
  4. Test DVR: Use this button to test the DVR feed connection. 
  5. Click the "Save" button to save the changes. 

2.2 Scanner Settings

The Scanner Settings in a POS system allow you to configure the scanner.

  1. Scanner Type: Use this drop-down to select the scanner. 
  2. Test Scanner: Use this button to verify that the scanner is configured correctly. 
  3. Capture DL Data: Use this button to verify that the scanner captures the DL data correctly. 
  4. Click the "Save" button to save the changes. 

2.3 Scale Settings

The Scale Settings lets you enable or disable the integrated scale.

  1. Tick the "Use Integrated Scale" checkbox and click the "Save" button to enable the scale.  
  2. Untick the "Use Integrated Scale" checkbox and click the "Save" button to disable the scale.   

2.4 Camera Settings

The Camera Settings in a POS system allow you to configure the scale.

  1. Camera: Use this drop-down to select the camera. 
  2. Click the "Save" button to save the changes. 

2.5 FTxIdentity Settings 

The FTxIdentity Settings in a POS system allow you to integrate FTx Identity.

  1. FTxIdentity Local API Host: Enter the FTxIdentity local API host name.
  2. Liveness API Check: Click this button to verify the API's liveness.
  3. Facial Recognition Camera: Specify the facial recognition camera.
  4. Test Camera: Click this button to verify that the camera is functioning correctly.
  5. Facial Recognition - Show Marker Lines: Tick this checkbox to show marker lines in the camera’s output. Once you tick this checkbox, the system will prompt you to select the size of marker lines from small, medium, and large in a drop-down menu.
  6. Click the "Save" button to save the changes.

2.6 Display Settings

In a POS system, a display is a customer-facing device (CFD), a digital screen that displays transaction details in real-time to the customer. The Display Settings in a POS enable you to configure the CFD.

  1. Display: Select the required display from this drop-down. 
  2. Greetings: Enter the greeting you would like to display on the CFD. 
  3. End Sale: Enter the message that you would like to display at the end of the sale. 
  4. Theme Setting: Select the CFD theme from this drop-down. 
  5. Registered Monitors: This section shows the list of registered monitors, if any. 
  6. Unregistered Monitors: This section shows the list of unregistered monitors, if any. 
  7. Click the "Save" button to save the changes.

2.7 Kitchen Settings

The Kitchen Settings allow you to enable or disable the kitchen printer.

  1. Tick the "Enable Kitchen Printer" checkbox and click the "Save" button to enable the printer setting.  
  2. Untick the "Enable Kitchen Printer" checkbox and click the "Save" button to disable the printer setting.   
  3. Click the "Save" button to save the changes.

2.8 Credit Card Information

The Credit Card settings enable you to select the processor for the credit card transactions.

  1. Processor: Select the required processor from the drop-down list. 
  2. Click the "Save" button to save the changes.

2.9 Pour My Beer Settings

The PMB (Pour My Beer) settings enable you to configure the Pour My Beer card-related settings.

  1. Enable Pour My Beer: Tick this checkbox to enable the Pour My Beer cards.  
  2. Server Name: Enter the server name. 
  3. User Name: Enter the user name. 
  4. Password: Enter the password. 
  5. Card Encryption Pass: Enter the card encryption pass. 
  6. Tender ID: Enter the tender ID. 
  7. Card Sale PLU: Enter the card sale PLU.
  8. Card Deposit PLU: Enter the card deposit PLU. 
  9. Deposit Amount: Enter the deposit amount. 
  10. Click the "Save" button to save the changes.

2.10 Biometric Settings

The Biometric settings allow you to select, enable, or disable the biometric reader.

  1. Use Biometric Reader: Tick this checkbox to enable the biometric reader. Select the desired biometric reader from the drop-down. 
  2. Click the "Save" button to save the changes.

2.11 Other Settings

The Other settings enable you to specify the path to the onscreen keyboard. 
  1. An onscreen keyboard in a POS system is a virtual keyboard that appears on the touchscreen. It allows cashiers or users to enter data (such as item names, prices, or customer information) without needing a physical keyboard.

  1. Onscreen Keyboard Path: Specify the path of the on-screen keyboard. 
  2. Click the "Save" button to save the changes.

2.12 Smart Till Settings

The Smart Till settings let you enable or disable the Smart Till.
