Product Links

Product Links Overview 

"Product Links" is where you can establish or remove the parent-child relationship between two products. FTx Cloud POS offers you the flexibility to establish or remove such links from two modules: "Products" and "Product Links." You can use them at your convenience. 

"Product Links" enables you to: 
  1. Link a product with another product as a parent or child.
  2. Clear (remove) the existing parent-child relationship links.
  3. Print the report of linked products.

2. Understanding "Product Links" Layout 

  1. The Product Links screen shows the list of all products twice: one in the upper section and the other in the lower section of the screen. You need to select one product from each section to link them to the parent-child relationship using the "Link As Child" or "Link As Parent" buttons.
  2. Please refer to Figure A and the descriptions of the buttons and fields below to understand the layout of "Product Links.

1.1: Select Department: This drop-down lets you filter the product list based on the department. This drop-down is for the products listed in the upper section. 
1.2: Search Product: This search box enables you to search for a product using its name or UPC. This search box is for the products listed in the upper section.
2: Clear Links: This button lets you clear the parent-child links between two products. 
3: Product List: This section shows the list of all products. Select one product from this section to create the parent-child relationship link.
  1. You can use the Show entries drop-down to select the number of entries you want to see in a single-page listing.

5.1: Search Product: This search box enables you to search for the product using its name or UPC. This search box is for the products listed in the lower section.
5.2: Select Department: This drop-down lets you filter the product list based on the department. This drop-down is for the products listed in the lower section.
6: No. Of Units: This field enables you to link the parent-child link quantity. For example, 
  1. If you enter ten in this field, the system will consider ten as the child quantity for the parent product.  
7.1: Link As Child: This button enables you to link the product selected from the lower section as a child to the chosen product from the upper section.  
7.2: Link As Parent: This button enables you to link the product selected from the lower section as a parent to the chosen product from the upper section. 
7.3: Print UPC Report: This button lets you print the linked products' UPC report. 
 

3. Creating a Product Link

You can create a product link to link a product as a parent or child to the other product as per our requirements using the "Link As Child" or "Link As Parent" buttons. Please keep in mind that the system will consider the product selected from the lower section and link it to the product selected from the upper section. This means:
  1. When you click the "Link As Child" button, the system will link the product selected from the lower section as a child to the product selected from the upper section.
  2. When you click the "Link As Parent" button, the system will link the product selected from the lower section as a parent to the product selected from the upper section.   
Note: However, you don't need to worry much about the upper or lower sections. The system will show the Link Product message at a later stage, clearly indicating the product relationship. Please read the message carefully. In case of any mistake, you can cancel the process and click the other button to create the required relationship.

Please follow the steps below to create a product link between two products. 
  1. Use the Department drop-down or the Search box to view the specific product list if required. 
  2. Please select one product from the lower section and one from the upper section, as Figure C shows.
    1. Please enter the number of child units in the No. Of Units field. For example, if you want to link the ten units of the child product to the parent product, enter 10 in the No. Of Units field.

  1. Click the "Link As Child" or "Link as Parent" button to establish the parent-child relationship as per your requirements. For example, click the "Link As Child" button to link the product selected from the lower section as a child to the chosen product from the upper section.  
  2. The Link Product message will appear, as Figure D shows.

  1. Read the product names and their relationship carefully in the message and click the "Yes, Link the product" button.
  1. As Figure E shows, the system will create the product link and show the Success message.

  1. You can view the updated Product Link information in the respective product pages for both products in "Products," as Figure F shows.

4. Clearing a Product Link

Please follow the steps below to clear the existing product links. 
  1. Select two products for which you need to clear (remove) the product links, and click the "Clear Links" button highlighted in Figure G.

  1. The Clear Product Links message will appear, as Figure H shows. Click "Clear Selected."

  1. Click "Yes, Clear Selected Links" to remove the product links. 
  2. The system will remove the product link between the two products and show the Success message.

5. Printing the UPC Report 

Please follow the steps below to print the UPC Report for linked products.
  1. Click the "Print UPC Report" button highlighted in Figure A. 
  2. The UPC Links Report screen will appear, as Figure J shows.

Filter the Report By: Use this button to select the records based on three parameters: Department, Category, and Manufacturer
Show only Linked Items: Use this button to view the records of only linked items. The system keeps this button enabled by default. Turn it off if required.
Print PDF: Use this button to print the UPC Report.  

5.1 Filter the Report 

You can select the records to print based on three parameters: Department, Category, and Manufacturer. Please follow the steps below to filter the report records. 
  1. Click the Filter the Report By drop-down. It will show you four options, as Figure K shows.

    1. Show All Items: The system will pre-select this option by default. It considers all parameters to generate the report. The "Manage" button is disabled for this option.  
    2. Filter by Department: Select this filter to get the department-specific records in the report.
    3. Filter by Category: Select this filter to get the category-specific records in the report.
    4. Filter by Manufacturer: Select this filter to get the manufacturer-specific records in the report.
      1. When you select Filter by Department, Filter by Category, or Filter by Manufacturer, the system will enable the "Manage" button to set up the filters. 
    1. Select the parameter, i.e., Department, and click the "Manage" button. The Manage Filters screen will appear, as Figure L shows.

    1. Select the departments for which you need to print the report by ticking the checkbox. 
    2. Click the green Arrow button to move the selected department records to the Selected List. The Manage Filters screen will look like the one shown in Figure M.

    1. If you want to remove the whole selection, click the "Clear Selection" button. You can remove any record from the list by clicking the Remove (x) icon.
    2. Click "Apply" to apply the selection. 
    1. The UPC Links Report screen will show your selection, as Figure N shows.

    1. Click "Print PDF."
    2. The report's PDF will open in a new tab. Download it using the Download icon, and print it using the Print icon. Below is a sample report:
