Standard Shipping: Ship To Store

Standard Shipping: Ship To Store

Standard Shipping: Ship To Store

Alongside Standard Shipping, where orders are shipped directly to a customer’s address, you can now enable the Ship to Store feature. This allows customers to pick up their orders from a nearby store location, adding flexibility and convenience.
With Ship to Store, customers can select a preferred store based on their Zip Code, without modifying their actual shipping address. The order is processed according to the shipping profile configured in the Store Admin, giving customers the option to collect their purchase from a nearby store instead of opting for home delivery during checkout.
This KB article covers:
  1. What to set up Ship to Store within the built-in Standard Shipping fulfillment, Shipping to Store via option, and Shipping Fee calculation.
  2. How customers can select a nearby store for pickup during checkout instead ship to the address.
  3. How store employees of both sides [From and To Location] can manage Ship to Store orders efficiently.

1. Store Admin: Setting up Ship To Store

Some settings should be required to configure related to Ship To Store from the Store Admin within the Standard Shipping fulfillment. Follow to below steps to reach out to the Standard Shipping for Ship To Store Settings:
  1. Step 1: Log into Store Admin
  2. Step 2: Click Settings -> General
  3. Step 3: Click Standard Shipping

Figure 1.1: Reaching the "Standard Shipping"

By clicking the "Standard Shipping", you will redirect to its section to configure the settings and options. From here, you can define how orders will be shipped from a warehouse or one store (Store A) to another store location (Store B) where customer will be picked up.

1.1 Setting up 'Shipping Via'

By scrolling down within the "Standard Shipping" section, you’ll see a dropdown labeled “How do you want to ship the order to the store?”. This dropdown controls how the order will be shipped from Warehouse/Store A to Store B for customer pickup. As a retailer, you can choose from two options, depending on your store’s logistics setup (including warehouse operations):

  1. Courier Company: A third-party courier service (e.g., FedEx, DHL) will ship the order by picking it up from the warehouse or another store.
  2. Own Transportation: You’ll use your internal logistics—for example, sending the order along with inventory transfers between stores.

Shipping Rate Calculation Based on Shipping Via Option
  1. If Courier Company is selected, the shipping rate will be calculated based on the Shipping Fee configured in the Shipping Profile.
  2. If Own Transportation is selected, an additional section titled “Shipping Rate Discount for Ship to Store” will appear. Here, you can configure:
    1. Free Shipping: No shipping fee will be charged, and customers will see a label like “Enjoy Free Shipping on your order!”
    2. Discount %: A percentage discount will be applied to the standard shipping fee (as per the shipping profile).

2. Customer-Facing Site/App

Shipping Fee Calculation

The shipping fee shown under the Shipping Method section will reflect the Store Admin setting:

  • If Courier Company is selected, the standard shipping rate will apply.

  • If Own Transportation is selected, either free shipping or a discounted shipping rate will be applied as per the configured Shipping Profile in the Store Admin.

Order Tracking

For Ship to Store orders, tracking is split into two parts:

  • From Location: The source (warehouse or originating store)

  • To Location: The destination store where the order will be available for pickup

Status updates will indicate stages such as "Shipped to Store" and "Ready for Pickup".

Order Cancellation

If a Ship to Store order is already shipped and in transit to the selected store, it cannot be canceled by the customer at that stage. However, the customers can cancel the order at any stage if the “Allow Customer to Cancel Order at any time” flag is enabled from Settings -> General -> Other Settings.

3. Fulfillment: Managing Ship To Store Orders

Order management for the 'Ship To Store' orders will be divided both sides of fulfillment portals as per From-To Stores.

3.1 For "From Location" (Store/Warehouse)

Store employees can easily identify Ship To Store orders using the designated Ship To Store icon visible on the order listing page across all order stages.
Additionally, a Filter option is provided to sort and view only Ship To Store orders at each stage.

When navigating to the Order Details page, the Ship To Store icon and label will help employees identify such orders. These orders will also display From Location and To Location details, offering clear insight into where the order is being shipped from and to.

Pending Order Stage – At 'From Store Location'

The item picking and subsequent steps will follow the same workflow as Standard Shipping (home delivery) orders. Once the item is picked based on the ordered quantity, the order will be marked as Ready.

Ready Order Stage – At 'From Store Location'

For Ship To Store orders, the store employee will see a “Ship To Store” action instead of the usual “Start Fulfilling” button. The shipping package and item selection process remains the same. After selecting items and packaging, the employee will mark the order as “Ready for Shipping.”

Note: If Own Transportation is selected as the Shipping Via method from the Store Admin setup, the Order Tracking can be optionally updated or skipped, offering more flexibility.

Ready Order Stage – Mark as Shipped

At the Ready stage, instead of seeing “Start Shipping”, store employees will get the option to “Mark as Shipped”, since the order is being sent to another store, not directly to the customer.

Figure 3.1.4: Mark as Shipped

Once Mark as Shipped is clicked, a confirmation pop-up will be displayed, and the order moves to a new stage called “Shipped To Store.” This stage will list all orders that are en-route to the To Store (receiving store).

The order status will continue to update based on activities at the To Store.

3.2 For "To Location"

Pending Order Stage – At 'To Store Location' (Receiving Store)

Once an order is shipped from the From Store, it will appear in the Pending stage at the To Store location. Store employees at the To Store will receive the order with a “Start Receiving” action instead of the usual item picking workflow.

Figure 3.2.1: Pending- To Location
Upon clicking Start Receiving, they will see the packages and items shipped from the other store or warehouse, allowing them to review the contents. After assigning a staging area, the store employee will mark the order as Ready.

Figure 3.2.2: Receiving Order

Meanwhile, employees at the From Store will also see the order status updated to “Ready <To Store>”, providing better visibility and coordination.

To Location – Ready Order Stage
Once marked Ready, the order directly moves to the Ready stage — there is no “In Progress” stage for Ship To Store at the To Store.
From this stage, the standard Store Pickup Fulfillment process will follow, including any age-verification or compliance requirements as configured for the store.

Once the customer picks up the order, the order status is updated and fulfilled on both sides (From Store and To Store) in real-time.
