Getting Started with Loyal-n-Save and Klaviyo

1. Overview

The Loyal-n-Save integration allows you to connect FTx Control Center with Klaviyo and synchronize supported customer profiles, loyalty activity, metrics, and events.

Once the integration is configured, you can use the synchronized data in Klaviyo to create customer segments, trigger automated flows, and personalize email, SMS, and push notifications.

In this guide, you'll learn how to: 
  1. Install the Loyal-n-Save integration in Klaviyo.
  2. Connect the Klaviyo account to FTx Control Center.
  3. Verify the connected Klaviyo account.
  4. Configure the Klaviyo Plan.
  5. Synchronize the applicable plan metrics.
  6. Verify synchronized customer profiles and metrics in Klaviyo.
  7. Use Loyal-n-Save data in segments and flows.
  8. Configure push notifications through a Klaviyo webhook.
  9. Refresh the authentication token when required.

Note: The metrics and customer data available for synchronization depend on the FTx Control Center marketing package and enabled add-on modules.

2. Install the Loyal-n-Save Integration in Klaviyo 

Before connecting Klaviyo to FTx Control Center, install the Loyal-n-Save integration in the Klaviyo account you want to use.

  1. Log in to the Klaviyo account. 
  2. In the left-hand navigation, select "Integrations."

    1. Search for Loyal-n-Save
    2. Select the Loyal-n-Save integration from the search results. 
    3. Click "Install". 
    4. Complete any confirmation or authorization prompts displayed by Klaviyo.

    After installation is complete, the Loyal-n-Save integration will be added to the Klaviyo account.

    Notes
    Note: Make sure you install the integration in the same Klaviyo account that you intend to connect to FTx Control Center.

    3. Connect the FTx Control Center Account 

    The Loyal-n-Save integration uses OAuth authentication to securely connect the FTx Control Center account with Klaviyo. During setup, FTx Control Center will authorize access to the Klaviyo account and configure the Klaviyo Plan that will be used for synchronization. 

    To connect the Klaviyo account: 
    1. Navigate to Loyalty > Klaviyo > Klaviyo Settings in the FTx Control Center.

    1. In the Account Klaviyo Integration section, click Connect Klaviyo.

    1. You will be redirected to Klaviyo's authorization page. 
    2. Review the requested permissions and confirm the Klaviyo account you want to connect to. 
    3. Click "Allow" to authorize the connection.

    1. After authorization is complete, you will be automatically redirected back to FTx Control Center, and a pop-up will be displayed stating that the connection has been done successfully.

    1. Click "OK."
    FTx Control Center will now establish the connection with the authorized Klaviyo account.

    4. Verify the Connected Klaviyo Account

    After connecting the account, verify that FTx Control Center is connected to the intended Klaviyo account.

    4.1 Verify the account in FTx Control Center

    In Loyalty > Klaviyo > Klaviyo Settings, review the Account Klaviyo Integration section.

    The section displays information such as:
    1. Connected Klaviyo Account: The Klaviyo account connected to FTx Control Center.
    2. Connected Date: The date on which the account was connected.
    3. Connection Status: The current connection status.
    4. Token Status: The current authentication token status.
    5. Access Token: Displays the access token associated with the connection. 
    6. Refresh Token: Displays the refresh token used to renew the access token. 
    7. Token Expires At: The expiration date and time of the current token.
    8. Webhook Secret: Displays the secret used for webhook communication. 
    9. OAuth Scopes: The permissions granted during authorization.

    4.2 Verify the account in Klaviyo

    To confirm that the correct Klaviyo account is connected:
    1. Switch to the Klaviyo portal.

    1. Click your Account Name in the lower-left corner.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Under the General tab, select API keys.

    1. Locate the Public API Key section. 
    2. Verify the Klaviyo account name.
    3. Confirm that the account name matches the Connected Klaviyo Account displayed in FTx Control Center.

    Important: Verify the account before configuring the Klaviyo Plan and synchronizing metrics to ensure that the intended Klaviyo account is being used.

    5. Configure the Klaviyo Plan

    After successfully connecting the Klaviyo account, configure the Klaviyo Plan that will be used for the integration.
    1. In FTx Control Center, navigate to Loyalty > Klaviyo > Klaviyo Settings.
    2. Locate the Klaviyo Plan Settings section.

    1. Click the Klaviyo Plan dropdown.
    2. Select the required Klaviyo Plan.
    3. If the selected configuration requires an additional add-on plan, enable the Include Add On toggle.
    4. Select the required add-on plan from the available options.
    5. Review the selected plan and add-on configuration.
    6. Click Save Plan Settings.
    The selected Klaviyo Plan configuration will be saved.

    Note: Selecting an additional add-on plan may increase the applicable cost.

    6. Synchronize Klaviyo Plan Metrics

    Once the connection is established and a Klaviyo Plan is selected, FTx Control Center can begin synchronizing supported customer profiles and loyalty events with Klaviyo using the "Sync Plan Metrics" option. You can manage the connection and update the associated Klaviyo Plan at any time from the Klaviyo Settings page. 
    1. In Klaviyo Plan Settings, verify that a Klaviyo Plan has been selected.

    1. Click Sync Plan Metrics.
    2. When the confirmation message asks you to create a test profile and fire a test event, click Yes, continue.

    1. FTx Control Center will initialize the metrics associated with the selected plan.
    2. Review the confirmation message displaying the number of metrics initialized.

    1. Click OK.
    The applicable Loyal-n-Save metrics are now available for synchronization with Klaviyo.

    Note: If a Klaviyo Plan has not been selected and saved, the option to synchronize plan metrics will not be available.

    7. Verify the Integration and Synchronized Data

    After completing the setup, verify that the integration and synchronized data are available in Klaviyo.

    7.1 Verify the integration

    1. In Klaviyo, navigate to Integrations.

    2. Open the Loyal-n-Save integration.
    3. Confirm that the integration status displays Connected.

    7.2 Verify synchronized metrics

    1. In Klaviyo, navigate to Analytics > Metrics.

    3. Verify that the metrics associated with the selected Klaviyo Plan are available.

    7.3 Verify synchronized customer profiles

    1. Navigate to Audience > Profiles.

    3. Review the profile properties imported from FTx Control Center.
    4. Review the activity timeline to verify synchronized Loyal-n-Save events.
    Notes
    Note: The initial synchronization may take some time depending on the amount of customer data associated with the account.

    7.4 Review metric activity and event details

    To review the details of a synchronized event:
    1. Navigate to Analytics > Metrics.
    2. Select the required metric.
    3. Open the activity feed for the metric.
    4. Locate the event you want to review.
    5. Click Activity Details or the action menu associated with the event.
    6. Review the event parameters and payload data.

    8. Create a Segment Using Loyal-n-Save Data

    Once customer profiles and loyalty data are synchronized, you can use Loyal-n-Save metrics and profile properties to create dynamic customer segments.

    1. In Klaviyo, navigate to Audience > Lists & Segments.
    2. Click Create and select Segment.

    1. Enter a name for the segment.
    2. Select the required tags.
    3. Click Create segment.
    4. Select the required condition.

    1. Configure any additional conditions or timeframes.
    2. Click Create segment to save the segment.
    You can use the resulting segment for targeted customer communications and marketing campaigns.

    9. Create a Flow Using Loyal-n-Save Data

    Loyal-n-Save metrics can be used as flow triggers or as conditions within a Klaviyo flow.
    1. In Klaviyo, navigate to Flows.

    1. Select a pre-built template or choose Build your own.

    2. Select the required Loyal-n-Save metric.
    3. Configure the required trigger filters.

    1. Add profile filters if you want to limit the flow to specific customer profiles.
    2. Select the required profile condition.

    1. Review the trigger configuration and click Confirm and save.

    Important: After confirming and saving the trigger selection, the trigger settings cannot be changed.

    9.1 Add a Time Delay

    1. From the left sidebar of the flow builder, drag the Time delay action to the canvas below the trigger.

    1. Set the time delay and choose “Day,” “Hours,or “Minutes” from the dropdown. Add in a time delay of at least one day.

    1. Configure any additional timing options, if required.
    2. Click Save.

    9.2 Add an Email

    1. Drag the Email action into the flow.

    1. Click Select template.
    2. You can select from the existing template library or create the template.  
    3. Click on “Create” to create the template. 
    4. Design the template using the drag-and-drop feature to arrange the blocks & layout available on the left pane. 
    5. Once you create a template, click on Preview. To make sure the content and design fit the email body.

    1. Enter the email where you received the test email and click on “Send test.
    2. Click on “Done.”

    1. Once you verify the changes made to the template, click on “Manage template” and select “Save as template.
    2. Enter the template name and click on “Save.” 
    3. Click on “Done.” 

    10. Configure Push Notifications Using a Webhook

    If you want to send direct push notifications through a Klaviyo flow, configure a webhook in the flow.
    1. In the Klaviyo flow builder, locate the Webhook action in the left sidebar.
    2. Drag the Webhook action into the flow where the push notification should be triggered.

    1. Enter a name for the webhook.
    2. Enter the Destination URL using the following format:
      1. {baseUrl}/customer/auth/klaviyo-push-notify/{secret}
    The secret is automatically generated when FTx Control Center is connected to Klaviyo.
    1. Under Body, enter the push notification payload in JSON format.

    The following fields are required:
    1. external_id: Use {{ person.id }} to identify the customer who should receive the push notification.
    2. title: The headline displayed in the push notification.
    3. message: The main content of the push notification.
    4. campaignId: The campaign ID from FTx Control Center. When provided, the notification is associated with the specified campaign, and customers are redirected to the corresponding campaign details page when they click the notification.

    Important: The JSON keys are case-sensitive and required. If any required key is missing or incorrectly formatted, the push notification will not be sent.
    1. Click Save to activate the webhook.
    2. Review the status message displayed by Klaviyo to confirm whether the webhook was configured successfully.

    Note: Only JSON formatting is supported for the webhook payload.

    10.1 Activate the Flow

    1. Click Update status.
    2. Click Preview to review the flow.
    3. After verifying the flow, click Exit preview.
    4. Click Review and turn on.

    1. Set the flow status to Live.
    2. Select Update Status Now or Schedule, as required.
    3. Click Save.
    The configured flow is now active.

    11. Manage the Klaviyo Authentication Token

    FTx Control Center maintains the authentication token required to communicate with the connected Klaviyo account.
    The Token Status and Token Expires At fields show the current state of the authentication token.
    1. When the token is valid, Token Status indicates that the token is valid.
    2. After the expiration date and time have passed, Token Status is displayed as Expired.
    3. Token expiration is reflected in the Token Status field and does not change the Connection Status to Token Expired.

    11.1 Refresh an Expired Token

    1. Navigate to Loyalty > Klaviyo > Klaviyo Settings in FTx Control Center.
    2. Locate the Account Klaviyo Integration section.
    3. Review the Token Status field.
    4. If the token requires renewal, click Refresh Token.
    5. FTx Control Center will request a new authentication token using the existing connection.
    6. Verify that Token Status is updated to indicate that the token is valid.
    7. Verify the updated Token Expires At value.

    12. Common Uses for Loyal-n-Save Data

    After synchronization is complete, you can use Loyal-n-Save data throughout Klaviyo to:
    Send a thank-you message after a purchase.
    Notify customers when they earn loyalty points.
    Send reward or coupon notifications.
    Create birthday or loyalty anniversary campaigns.
    Trigger win-back campaigns for inactive customers.
    Follow up after a Swag Shop redemption or promotional interaction.
    Create targeted customer segments.
    Personalize email and SMS campaigns.
    Trigger automated communications based on customer activity.

    13. Troubleshooting

    If you encounter issues with the integration, verify the following:
    1. You have the required administrator permissions in Klaviyo and FTx Control Center.
    2. The Loyal-n-Save integration is installed in the intended Klaviyo account.
    3. The OAuth authorization process was completed successfully.
    4. The correct Klaviyo account is displayed under Connected Klaviyo Account.
    5. The integration status displays Connected in Klaviyo.
    6. A Klaviyo Plan has been selected and saved in FTx Control Center.
    7. Sync Plan Metrics has been completed successfully.
    8. Customer activity exists in FTx Control Center.
    9. The initial synchronization has had sufficient time to complete.
    10. The FTx Control Center account includes the marketing package or add-on module associated with the metric you expect to see.
    If the issue persists, disconnect and reconnect the integration or contact your FTx Control Center support representative.

    14. Setup Completion

    The Loyal-n-Save and Klaviyo integration is ready to use when:

    1. The Loyal-n-Save integration is installed in the intended Klaviyo account.
    2. The Klaviyo account is successfully connected to FTx Control Center.
    3. The correct account is displayed under Connected Klaviyo Account.
    4. A Klaviyo Plan is selected and saved.
    5. The applicable plan metrics are initialized through Sync Plan Metrics.
    6. The integration status displays Connected in Klaviyo.
    7. The synchronized metrics are available under Analytics > Metrics.
    8. Customer profiles and loyalty activity are available under Audience > Profiles.
    9. The Token Status indicates that the authentication token is valid.                                                                                                

    15. Frequently Asked Questions 

    How often is data synchronized? 

    After the integration is connected, supported customer profiles and loyalty events are synchronized automatically. In most cases, new data becomes available in Klaviyo within a few minutes after the activity occurs in the FTx Control Center. 

    I connected to the integration, but I don't see any metrics. 

    Verify the following: 
    1. The integration status is Connected. 
    2. Customer activity exists in the FTx Control Center account. 
    3. The initial synchronization process has been completed. 
    4. the account includes the marketing package or optional module associated with the metric you expect to see. 
    Why don't I see a specific metric? 
    The metrics synchronized to Klaviyo depend on the FTx Control Center marketing package and enabled add-on modules. Refer to the Loyal-n-Save data reference article for a complete list of supported metrics and plan availability. 

    Can I use Loyal-n-Save data for both email and SMS campaigns? 
    Yes. Once synchronized, Loyal-n-Save metrics and profile properties can be used throughout Klaviyo, including for audience segmentation, email flows, SMS flows, conditional splits, and message personalization.
