Enable & Setting Up Gift Cards for FTx Commerce

Gift cards are a convenient and flexible way for customers to shop or share a gift with their loved ones. Our FTx Commerce platform offers both digital and physical gift cards, allowing customers to choose the best option based on their needs.
  1. Digital Gift Cards: Instantly delivered via email, making them perfect for last-minute gifting.
  2. Physical Gift Cards: Shipped to the recipient, providing a tangible gifting experience.
Additionally, FTx Commerce platform allows customers to send gift cards directly to others via email, making gifting seamless and hassle-free. Whether you’re purchasing a gift card for personal use or sending it as a thoughtful present, this guide will help you understand how to buy, redeem, and manage your gift card effortlessly.

Gift Cards module explanation is divided into multiple KB articles. This KB covers the setup and configuration of the Gift Card module, including:

1. Control Center: Setting Up Gift Cards

Gift cards can be enabled and configured in the Control Center for FTx Commerce. This setup allows customers to purchase gift cards with preset or custom $ amounts when they visit your online store or mobile app. Once enabled, customers will see the Gift Card option in the store, making it easy for them to buy and use gift cards. 

To manage gift cards and to set them up, follow the below steps: 

  1. Step 1: Log into Control Center
  2. Step 2: Click Point of Sale -> FTx Commerce
  3. Step 3: Click Settings -> Gift Cards tab

Click on the "Settings" tab to locate the "Gift Card" option, which is disabled by default. As a retailer/CC admin user, you need to manage and configure the Gift Card Settings for FTx Commerce.

1.1 Manage Gift Card Settings

1. Select Department for Gift Card
Select the Department to adjust the Gift Card payment for FTx Commerce orders as "Tender" in Control Center.

2. Setting Up Preset Gift Cards

Configure preset gift card $ amounts to allow customers to purchase digital or physical gift cards with predefined values. These preset amounts will appear as separate gift card options on your FTx Commerce site or app.

Validations: You can add up to 10 gift cards, with a maximum amount of $500. Duplicate intervals are not permitted. To clear all selections, click the "Remove All" button.

3. Setting Up Custom Gift Card 

Enable the "Custom Gift Card" option to allow customers to purchase digital or physical gift cards with a specific amount within a defined range. The maximum allowed value for a custom gift card is $500.

4.  Custom first 4 digits of Digital Gift Cards

The Digital Gift Card Prefix feature allows retailers/admin users to define the first 4 digits (prefix) of a 12-digit digital gift card number. The remaining digits are automatically generated by the system.

This is an optional configuration and can be enabled or disabled as needed.

When Toggle is OFF (Default)
  1. The system generates the entire 12-digit gift card number automatically.
  2. No manual input is allowed.
When Toggle is ON
  1. Users can manually define the first 4 digits (prefix) of the gift card.
  2. Remaining digits are auto-generated by the system.
Example: If prefix entered = 1234
Generated gift card number = 1234XXXXXXXX (remaining digits auto generated)

5. Setting up Allow customers to return Gift Card
Allow customers to return the gift cards when this option is enabled. The condition is the gift cards must be inactivated. This option will be found disabled by default.
  1. Digital: It must not be activated.
  2. Physical: Physical gift cards can be returned if no transaction has occurred yet.
Note: Store employees can process gift card returns from the FTx Commerce - fulfillment side only if this option is turned on.

2. Store Admin: Setting Up Gift Cards

The setups & configurations required for the gift cards from the Store Admin are mentioned below:
  1. Setting up Legal > Gift Card Policy
  2. Store Appearance > Manage Footer Menu
The Gift Card Policy outlines key details such as available payment options and gift card types (digital or physical). It includes usage rules like where the card can be redeemed, whether partial balances can be used, any restrictions, etc. The policy also covers expiration dates, fees, refund rules, and what to do if the card is lost or stolen.

2.1 Adding the Gift Card Policy

The Gift Card Policy outlines key details such as available payment options and gift card types (digital or physical). It includes usage rules like where the card can be redeemed, whether partial balances can be used, any restrictions, etc. The policy also covers expiration dates, fees, refund rules, and what to do if the card is lost or stolen.

Reaching Legal -> Gift Card Policy

Access to the Gift Card Policy depends on whether multi-brand is enabled or not:

  1. If multi-brand is enabled, the Gift Card Policy can be added at the Global level and inherited at the Brand level, or a different Gift Card Policy, at the Brand level.
  2. If multi-brand is disabled, the Gift Card Policy can be added and managed in the Legal menu from the "Settings -> General," a global-level setting only.

1. When multi-brand is enabled

Follow the steps below to add the Gift Card Policy at Global level:

  1. Step 1: Log into FTx Commerce Store Admin
  2. Step 2: Click Settings -> General
  3. Step 3: Click Legal
  4. Step 4: Scroll down to the last Gift Card Policy
Here, you can manage the Gift Card Policy content. The formatting options are also provided to design and structure the content.

Once added/updated, save the legal policy.

Follow the steps below to add the Gift Card Policy at Brand level:

  1. Step 1: Log into FTx Commerce Store Admin
  2. Step 2: Click Online Brands-> Click on the Settings icon
  3. Step 3: Click Store Settings -> Legal
  4. Step 4: Scroll down to the last Gift Card Policy
If you're managing the legal content for a specific brand, you'll see the "Inherit From Global" switch. Enable this switch to fetch all policy content from the Global level.

If you want to manage the different gift card policy content for the brand, disable the switch. Once disabled, you can manually fill in all five sections, including the Gift Card Policy with content that is independent of the Global level. Once added/updated, save the legal policy.

2. When multi-brand is disabled

Follow the steps below to set up the Gift Card Policy in the footer menu for each brand individually:

  1. Step 1: Log into FTx Commerce Store Admin
  2. Step 2: Click Settings -> General
  3. Step 3: Click Legal
  4. Step 4: Scroll down to the last Gift Card Policy

Where can the Gift Card Policy be viewed on the FTx Commerce site/app?
Customers can access the Gift Card Policy from the footer menu and also as a separate label (Gift Card Policy) on the Gift Cards page header.

Access to the Footer Menu depends on whether multi-brand is enabled or not:

  1. If multi-brand is enabled, the Gift Card Policy in the footer can be added and managed for each Brand individually.
  2. If multi-brand is disabled, the Gift Card Policy in the footer can be added and managed in the Legal menu from "Settings -> General," a global-level settings only.

To reach "Manage Footer Menu," follow the below steps:
  1. Step 1: Log into FTx Commerce Store Admin
  2. Step 2: Click Online Brands-> Click the Settings icon
  3. Step 3: Click Store Appearance -> Manage Footer Menu

2. When multi-brand is disabled
To reach "Manage Footer Menu," follow the below steps:
  1. Step 1: Log into FTx Commerce Store Admin
  2. Step 2: Click Settings -> General
  3. Step 3: Click Store Appearance -> Manage Footer Menu
By clicking "Manage Footer Menu," you will be redirected to the Menus page. You can see the two different sections: Menus and Footer Menu.
  1. Menus: Create a menu by selecting the menu types (items).

  1. Footer Menu - Custom Columns: Select those menus in individual columns as you want to set up and display the footer to the customers.

  1. Predefined Columns: Gift Cards will be selected by default in the second column of the Predefined Columns section for the Footer Menu. The gift cards will be displayed in the following Sub-Menus:
    Check Balance | Buy New Gift Cards | Gift Card Policy.
Once the footer menu is set up for the Gift Card Policy in Custom Columns for Menus, save the changes.

2.3 Include Gift Card

You can configure the "Minimum Order Amount" required for customers to place online orders for each fulfillment type (Store/Curbside Pickup, Delivery, or Standard Shipping).

You have two options:

  1. Enforce the minimum order amount by requiring customers to meet or exceed it.
  2. Allow orders below the threshold but apply an additional fee.

You can see the "Include Gift Card Amount" checkbox option along with the Minimum Order Amount and Fee section to decide to include the gift card amount in the minimum order amount calculation.

Include Gift Card Amount: If enabled, this option determines whether the $ value of gift cards in the cart will count toward the Minimum Order Amount. This setting can help you strategically manage the cost of fulfilling online orders.
Once you've managed, click the "Save" button to apply the changes for Include Gift Card Amount.
